We have been out there the last two Octobers and it’s just great. Being only 15-20 minute drive from NW Portland, you wouldn’t believe how quickly you’re in rural Oregon. It’s beautiful! With every bend in the road there are farms, pumpkin patches, beaches, u-pick areas, and lots of flat road for biking. We were excited when the Kohl Family wanted to head that way for their session and we made sure to arrive early so we could enjoy Kruger’s Farm Market before we started. Couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful afternoon or great location!

When you get a chance, check out this family’s work and vision for food and nutrition justice in the Portland area. They are working hard in a much needed area of change.

They are a fun bunch and she is lucky to have each of them. She is going to definitely have to learn to keep up or these boys will be leaving her in the dust! They are each so different and it was such fun to hang out for a Saturday morning. The incentive for these kids was a delicious doughnut from the famous Portland shop, Voodoo Doughnuts. Let me tell you, parents, we are all about incentives when it comes to photo sessions with kids! The kids held to their end of the bargain and I’m curious to know what doughnuts they chose as their reward… Thanks Perez Fam for a fun time and thanks also to Pinky and Laura for use of their home and neighborhood!

Again, we just love, love, love photography as a gift for family members celebrating anniversaries or birthdays or other important events. The four siblings pulled together and organized this birthday present for their mother–photos of the whole group and, most importantly, the grandkids!

Does anyone in the Portland area remember that awful Sunday morning in July when we looked out our windows and couldn’t believe how hard it was raining? Yep, that was our lucky day! These guys didn’t blink at it, but powered through and were flexible as we all did our best to stay dry and out of the torrential downpour. They even managed some awfully great smiles! As always, the kids stole the show. Thanks again to all the cousins who helped bring out the best smiles. You guys were so great! Let’s do it again some time…maybe when it’s sunny? =)

These Oregon transplants have made their home in the Phoenix area for about 10 years, which means we don’t see them nearly as much as we would like. But, it does give us a good excuse (as if you really need one when you live in a place with as much rain as the Pacific NW!) to escape to warm weather now and again.

We were lucky enough to be with all of the Phoenix-based Rickeys (Rickeys, plus the Westerlinds) for an early Thanksgiving meal. In addition to enjoying the warm(er) weather and catching up with these friends, spending a few days together gave us the perfect opportunity for mini photo session. Before the turkey could be carved, we ran outside for a few shots of the crew together. We missed out on the youngest of the Rickey sibilings being part of the shoot, and the grandparents too, but I suppose that means we’ll just have to come back!
