The Schlotts | Family & Kids

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

This family session with the Schlotts was a fully “at home” session and it was so great. I think most folks are just more relaxed at home–in a space with which they are familiar and a place that has real significance. We have done parts of other sessions at people’s homes and each time we have found that things are pretty low-key. I don’t think there needs to be anything particular about your home to make it work. The Schlotts were definitely at ease in their own space and you could tell they spend a lot of time playing together. We’re planning to head back to their place so we can put the cameras down and just play for awhile!

Photo Show | Newberg ARTwalk

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

Newberg ARTwalk
Friday, May 7
5-9pm

Come one, come all! We are participating in this Friday’s Newberg ARTwalk, showing photographs at Pitter Patter Children’s Consignment. The display at Pitter Patter is in cooperation with local doulas, midwives, and a lactation consultant, Laura Dunn (who was kind enough to invite us to join in the event), who are highlighting International Doula Month and Pregnancy Awareness Month. Several interesting activities will be taking place during the evening including baby wearing demonstrations.

The ARTwalk-ing happens all over downtown Newberg and highlights local businesses, winemakers, musicians, and artists. It’s a fun community time and as the weather gets nicer it’s a great chance to get out and see what’s happening in our town.

Learn more about what’s going on at Pitter Patter onĀ Facebook and let us know if you’re coming! If you can’t make it Friday, the photographs will be on display through the month of May.

Here’s a tiny peak at what you’ll see…

Announcing!

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

Who doesn’t love the beach? Well, okay, I know one or two people, but they are not us. We LOVE the beach and try to spend as much time there as possible during the summer months. Considering the fact we are there so often, it made sense to take a couple weekends and mix business with pleasure. So with that, we’d like to announce two dates that we will be offering photo sessions in the Cannon Beach/Manzanita area for the summer of 2010… drumroll, please…

Saturday, June 26 and Saturday, July 31

There will be no travel fees for these special dates. We will be there ready to capture you, your family, kids, dog, cat, or group at the beach.

We are looking forward to an excellent summer and hope you’ll join us on the north coast! Contact us at info@photomacy.com to book a spot.

Below are some fun shots from our own fun family time last year at Pacific City with a couple of kids who had never seen the ocean before.

The Doughertys | Kids & Families

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

The Sweetest Thing Cupcakes has quickly become a favorite spot in our town and of the Dougherty family. It was the perfect location for a morning photo session–not only did it come with the bonus treat of a yummy cupcake and coffee, it was just the right spot to hang out with this gracious family. John and I were amazed at the patience of their son as he waited until we had the chance to have some fun taking pictures of the intact desserts on the table before he dug into his delicious mini cupcake. We wrapped up the morning at their home where he was rewarded for his patience with the chance to show us his firefighting gear and skills–we were impressed! Thanks for a fun morning, Doughertys!

Of course, there are more images on Facebook…

Mr. O.K. | Kids & Families

Friday, April 16th, 2010

Being a kid is rough in the Macy family as there is always a camera in your face, excluding eating times. But, seriously, you can’t help yourself when you have little guys like O.K. running/crawling around the house. You just want to capture it all! We were so delighted that John’s sister, brother-in-law, and son made their second trip of the year out to Oregon from Philadelphia over the Christmas holiday. Although it started and ended with complications (to put it gently), there were a few days in the middle that were really nice. While they were in town, we took the three out for a mini-session. Here’s a glimpse, with more pictures on Facebook!

The Staleys | Families

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

When’s the last time your family (like your parents and siblings) had professional photos? If I don’t count weddings, which is kind it’s own thing, I am pretty sure our family’s last professional photo was our church photo from 1992. Yes, I remember the bangs of myself and my sisters. Enough said–I don’t think we need to dig out that photo. It’s such fun to see adult children initiating family photo sessions and giving their folks a reason to take that circa 1992 family photo off the wall.

This afternoon session with the Staley’s was a Christmas gift from daughter, Rachelle. We were glad to have some sun breaks on a chilly December day out in the Yamhill County farm country. Can you tell who stole the show?

The Froeschers | Families

Sunday, April 4th, 2010

It’s fun to see large family come together to celebrate. The Froescher family was celebrating quite a bit over the weekend of Thanksgiving. Not only were they celebrating the annual turkey and trimmings holiday, they were celebrating the anniversary of the Froescher parents, Lynn and Ken. In the midst of it all, they squeezed in a couple of hours with us–a gift honoring Lynn and Ken’s years together. Before everyone arrived, we ran around with Lora and Kenny and their kiddos getting a few snaps. I love the thoughtfulness of this gift, the time everyone took out of their holiday weekend to be there, and the location they chose (the farm/land/property of friends of theirs).

The McIntyres | Families

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

Looks like we are finally getting to autumn… October to be exact, only five more months to catch you up on!

This family may be familiar to many of you who are in the Newberg area. The McIntyres have been friends of ours since the beginning of “us”. John and Nate have been friends since middle school, they lived together for stints both during and after college, John was in their wedding and Nate in ours. Each time we have the chance to hang out with them we leave saying, “We should do that more often!”

It was so fun to spend a crisp autumn evening with the four of them, trying to press the shutter quick enough to catch the two young boys in action. Here’s a few of our favorites:

The Greenes | Families

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

This beautiful family oozed joy throughout the entire session–the two kids wore us out with their abundance of energy, but were a pure delight the entire time. We’re so thankful to have opportunities like this to see kids be adopted by families who can provide a life they could only have dreamed of having and give them love that they need and deserve. We do have a particular attachment to kids from Ethiopia, like these two, as the newest additions to our family have also come from Ethiopia. Thanks, Greenes, for inviting us to capture an afternoon with your family!

The Bradens | families

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

The Braden family will forever hold the position as our first photo session with a family we didn’t know. Referred by a friend, we met up with them on the Nike campus for a late afternoon run around the grounds and had a fun couple of hours of playing. It took awhile for their son to warm up to the camera, but we were sure glad he did–what a cute smile! We are already looking forward to next year!
