A friend recently asked us if we could check through our catalogs of photographs for a specific type of photograph–one that was vertical and included either objects or patterns. I scanned through thousands of photos to see what we had that might fit her needs and was able to put together a collection of pictures, but through the process quickly recognized the great majority of our photos fall into one of two categories: people or nature. It was fun to cruise through pictures we have taken over the past five years and to take a break from all the kid cuteness, I thought it would be fun to put up a random collection of photos whose common denominator is that they are vertical. Don’t worry, we’ll get back to cuteness soon enough…

Out of Thousands
Monday, March 29th, 2010The Routons | Families
Wednesday, March 24th, 2010Our original around the world travel plans included at least a few weeks in Brazil visiting our friends Micah and Marla Routon. However, as we were getting ready to purchase tickets we learned that they were going to be coming home to Oregon for a year and would be back in Newberg only a few weeks before we set out on our journey. We were thankful to get to see them before heading out and were also glad to be able to share a few months with them and their two young girls before they returned to Brazil. We’ve taken lots of pictures of these two precious girls, but getting to have an afternoon capturing their family was a treat! Maybe next time it will be in the Southern Hemisphere!
The Greenes | Families
Saturday, March 20th, 2010This beautiful family oozed joy throughout the entire session–the two kids wore us out with their abundance of energy, but were a pure delight the entire time. We’re so thankful to have opportunities like this to see kids be adopted by families who can provide a life they could only have dreamed of having and give them love that they need and deserve. We do have a particular attachment to kids from Ethiopia, like these two, as the newest additions to our family have also come from Ethiopia. Thanks, Greenes, for inviting us to capture an afternoon with your family!

The Bradens | families
Thursday, March 18th, 2010The Braden family will forever hold the position as our first photo session with a family we didn’t know. Referred by a friend, we met up with them on the Nike campus for a late afternoon run around the grounds and had a fun couple of hours of playing. It took awhile for their son to warm up to the camera, but we were sure glad he did–what a cute smile! We are already looking forward to next year!
The Andersons | families
Saturday, March 13th, 2010We are so blessed to be related to this family. When John and I started dating there were four of them and now there are seven! The whole crew came out for a Labor Day weekend of family time with Oregon and Washington brothers, sisters, parents, grandparents, uncles, and aunts. This was the first time most of us were getting to meet Addison and Paul, who joined the family in July, and it was a true delight.
The time we spent with them in the photo session, below, was one our our weekend highlights. They were incredible subjects–relaxed and ready to have a fun time. If it hadn’t been for sunset, we might have just spent all night hanging out, taking pictures, and laughing with them!
More Anderson family pictures and fun on Facebook!
Oregon Family Time | kids & families
Saturday, March 6th, 2010We were so fortunate to have so much family time this summer! John’s sister and family traveled from Philadelphia to Oregon for some family time and to introduce their new son to much of the family. It was so great to have them local for a few days and even get to vacation with them at the coast and spend some much appreciated down time together. We’re so thankful for how many times we have been able to see them in the first year of little O.K.’s life… wait until you see photos from Christmas!
We just couldn’t get enough of this kid–he was probably overwhelmed with all of the aunts, uncles, and grandparents who had cameras in his face for the better part of his visit, but none of us could help ourselves!
Delaney | Babies
Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010We have loved having the opportunity to be the unofficial hospital photographers for our dear friends who have been having kids over the past five years. When we learned Delaney’s due date was the exact same time we would be in Virginia we crossed our fingers and hoped that she would come early or hang on until we got home. Alas, she was born right in the middle of our trip. The day after we returned to Oregon we eagerly went to her home to meet her and spend time with her parents. We’ve been able to see her almost every month since she was born and she is just getting cuter and cuter! Can’t wait for the next photo shoot with the whole family.
This photo was shot at about 2 months of age…
