The Bonhams & Cami | maternity & adoption

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

The story of this family is emotion-filled and, unfortunately, too long to detail here. Simply put Cami was the birth mom of Rhonda & Steve’s adopted son, Gabriel (for more details, check out their blog). Rhonda & Steve wanted a photo shoot that would honor Cami as the birth mom and also show that it really is the three of them together who were on this nine month journey. We had a fun morning dragging them all around town, chasing the shadows on a very bright summer day. Five months later every one is doing great and adjusting to a changed life so well!

Virginia Family Time | kids & families

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Mid-July found us in Virginia celebrating Erin’s father’s retirement after 30 years of service in the U.S. military. It was a great time of honoring his achievement, the lives he’s impacted, and just being together as an extended family. We had family from California, Washington, Alaska, Virginia, and Maryland come for an extended holiday and were able to spend some time doing mini photo sessions with Erin’s sister and cousin and their respective families. So great having family members who don’t mind being guinea pigs! Thanks, guys!

The Morgan Boys | kids

Friday, February 19th, 2010

In preparation for the official launch of Photo Macy, we have been working diligently, going nearly nowhere without a camera in hand. Through the beauty of word-of-mouth and photog friends who have supported us and passed our name along, we have kept busy and it’s been a blast.

We are going to take a handful of posts (a rather large handful) to update you on the past eight months of our photo sessions and get you up to speed.

Our first official shoot was a Fathers Day surprise with the kids of dear friends of ours. We are so glad we have been part of this family’s life since long before the kids came along and have loved watching them grow together with two precious, little guys.

The surprise went off successfully and everyone was more than pleased! See a larger collection of photos by clicking on the Facebook icon at the top of the blog.

Sweet Thing

We do want to catch you up on the past months of photo sessions and will be doing so over the next few weeks (or months, depending on how long it takes), but first we want to share about a more recent photo session. Sweetest Thing CupCakes opened their doors in Newberg, Oregon in the fall and in January we had the opportunity to do a shoot with a local family. We arrived ahead of them and took the time to have a cupcake ourselves, but we couldn’t resist taking a few snaps of both the delicious cupcakes and also the tastefully decorated shop. We sent the photos to the owners and, as it turns out, they needed photos for their website and used ours. Check out their site at sweetestthingcupcakes.com or become a fan of their Facebook page.

If you’re looking for a great venue for a party, need catering for an event, or are a bride looking for a fun alternative to traditional cake, Sweetest Thing CupCakes is the place to go. It’s a fun location and a great place for a photo session–we look forward to shooting there again (and having the excuse to eat more cupcakes)!

If you couldn’t tell, we are pleased to announce the official launch of Photo Macy–a creative venture that feeds our love of photography and people. This idea was set in motion somewhere between Auckland and Nairobi, but has been growing in our minds for much longer. If you have read our personal blog, Shift, you have been hearing some hints about this and we are very pleased to be getting things off the ground. In some ways it feels like we have been pedaling backwards, keeping up with the photo sessions we have already booked and trying to get the business we are really already doing actually started. A good and funny place to be. Check out our website to see our portfolio and pricing.
